38 Hours

Well I could not think of anything witty to say at all except that is how long we had to sit in Memphis and wait......can you imagine 38 hours of doing absolutely nothing except waiting for them to get us a new RV. Mind you this is on a cross country trip with a deadline looming. When we finally got the RV towed from the scary alley at the wrecking yard to the Ford dealership no one would look at the RV and no one would tell us how long it was going to take....so we waited and waited and waited some more.

We eventually grew tired waiting for Cruise America (never ever use them...in case you weren't sure or were considering it) to get it together. We decided to rent a car, get a hotel and go to see Graceland. It was a cool place with lots of history and a ton of "retro stuff".... the jungle room, the awards room, the memorial site and the clothes. I do not remember Elvis being that tacky but who am I to say anything. I especially like the jungle room with the green shag carpet on the ceiling AND the floor. We also got a chance to go aboard the "Flying Graceland" called the Lisa Marie which was tacky but still a neat walk down memory lane.
Thanks to our friend Jennifer we were able to secure a hotel room that would allow our 2 huge dogs...at a fee of course. We had a place to sleep and we hoped that our new and 3rd RV would arrive sometime in the middle of the night.....it did at about 1:00 am!

We were finally on the road...after we had to move ALL of our belongings for the 2nd time from RV#2 to RV#3 in the pouring rain...thank goodness we finally got underway. We stopped in Nashville and visited Becca, our cousin, over some BBQ and a visit to the Grand Old Opry.


We sped through Tennessee and will have to miss Dollywood but onto Virginia tomorrow. Our stuff arrives at the new house on Monday.

On a side note: Michelle has been very popular with these southern boys over the last few days.....1 young guy actually told her she was "purdy" and another car salesman at the Ford Dealership was very happy to help make her comfortable while we waiting for the car. The south will be a good place for us.
