So after the trauma of the breakdown and the traffic we headed into downtown Santa Fe.
It was a great visit and we took a great tour with Carla, a hippie dippy artist, who does odd jobs to pay for her existence in Santa Fe which is just as costly as California. She let us know that she is a tour guide, an artist and delivers phone books.....you do what it takes!
The style in Santa Fe is highly regulated and it looks like it does in the movies. Carla explained to us that you can paint your pueblo or territorial home in any color you like as long as it looks like dirt. It was a beautiful city and I even got to see Randy Travis who has a home there.....he was checking out the Danes. The city was very dog friendly and they got lots of attention.
We saw some beautiful artwork and sculptures...amazing stuff! The city which has gained notoriety as the 2nd largest art community in the US next to New York and spends lots of dollars on its public artwork.
We also got a chance to see Mission San Miguel and Basilica of Saint Francis. In addition to these churches we went to the home of the "Miraculous Staircase" which has 2 360-degree turns to get to the choir loft 22 feet above the ground using NO NAILS....very cool.

We finished our day with some great New Mexican cuisine and then avoided the falling snow. Overall a fun day with no obstacles to speak of.
We also spent a few hours visiting Tucumcari...enough said! Our journey continued with drives from New Mexico into Texas and then Oklahoma. We will be driving into Arkansas tomorrow....talk to you later.
